Since 2011, S&D Real Estate has managed the Mitchel Field Complex. We’ve turned an abandoned eye sore into over 60 homes for homeless veterans and active military members.
In April, 2011, S&D was tasked with managing a set of properties that were abandoned by the United States Navy, and eventually turned over to Nassau County. At the time, the buildings were in significant disrepair, presenting a major risk for illicit activities.
However, after putting $4.5 million into renovations, we turned it into community housing for veterans, active military members and their families. This severe blight became a model neighborhood for the residents of Nassau County. The former Housing and Urban Development Secretary, Julian Castro, even praised it as “a model for the rest of the nation.”
Our role as property managers extends far beyond structural maintenance. Here at S&D, we are completely, wholeheartedly committed to providing a safe, comfortable environment for our veterans and active military members.
